Chicken Soup (شوربة الدجاج)

شوربة الدجاج ـ عربي

This is a colorful and tasty soup. You can use any type vegetables you like. For me, I used what I have in my fridge such as: Zucchini, carrots, red peppers and potatoes. I like to make a big amount and keep it in the fridge for two days, because it is light and it doesn’t take a long time to reheat. I recommend squeezing a lemon on the soup before you eat it, this will make it tastes sour and good.


  • 3 chicken breasts, cut into 4 big pieces
  • 1 tbsp. minced garlic
  • 9 cups of hot water
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander powdered
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 3 carrots, peeled and chopped into small pieces
  • 1 red pepper or and color, chopped into small pieces
  • 2 small potatoes, peeled and chopped into small pieces
  • 1 zucchini, chopped into small pieces
  • ½ onion, chopped into small pieces
  • 1 tbsp. parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp. fresh dill, chopped
  • ¼ cup vermicelli


  1. Combine onion, chicken, chicken bouillon cube and spices in a big deep pot. Stir for 5 minutes on medium heat.
  2. Add 3 cups of hot water, cover and let it cook on medium high for 30 minutes.
  3. Remove chicken from the pot and use a fork to shred the chicken
  4. Put the chicken back in the pot. Add the vegetables and 6 cups of water. Cover the pot and let it cook for 40 minutes, Then check if vegetables are tender.
  5. If vegetables tender add the vermicelli, parsley and dill stir and cover. Let it cook for 5 minutes. Serve with a slice of a lemon.
