This is an easy recipe for stuffed pastry with ground beef. I use a lot of white onion in it but you can adjust it to how you prefer. I like to eat it with hot sauce and it can be served as an appetizer, lunch or you can make it for a picnic instead of sandwiches.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ salt
  • ½ cup Mazola Oil
  • Water as needed
  • For the stuffing:
    • ½ pound ground beef
    • 1 big white onion, chopped
    • ½ tsp salt
    • ½ tsp Black pepper
    • ½ tsp cumin
    • ½ tsp coriander
    • 1 small tomato chopped
  • For the topping:
    • Black sesame seeds
    • 1 egg yolk

  1. in a bowl mix salt and flour, add oil then add water gradually while kneading until a soft non sticky dough is formed.
  2. Cover and let rest while making the meat.
  3. Sautee onion
  4. Add meat and spices. Mix well and let it cook until meat is half way cooked then add the chopped tomato. Mix and let it cook until meat is tender.
  5. Cut the dough into small balls. Roll one ball, put 1 or 2 tbsp. of the cooked ground beef. Fold the sides of the dough to close.
  6. Organize the stuffed dough on a greased baking sheet. Brush the top with the egg yolk then sprinkle some sesame seeds on it.
  7. Bake for 20-30 minutes at 350 degrees.
