  • 1/3 cup of Mazola oil
  • ½ onion sliced
  • ½ onion chopped
  • 1 cup lentils (soaked in water for 15 minutes)
  • 1 cup rice (soaked in water for 15 minutes)
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp black pepper


  1. Heat the oil in a pan then add the sliced onion. Stir the onion until it is golden brown. Remove onion from the oil and Keep onion on the side for garnishing later.
  2. In a pot, use the remaining oil to sauté chopped onion.
  3. Add lentils and one cup of water, chicken bouillon cube, salt, cumin and black pepper. Let it cook for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Add rice and 2 cups of water. Cover and let it cook on low heat until water is absorbed.
  5. Serve and garnish with onion.
